Fiesta!
Celebrating 25 years of Martinez Studio in Jacksonport!
Come celebrate Saturday, July 6 from 3-7pm.
In the five years since we last threw a Fiesta, we’ve welcomed unprecedented growth.
Milestones include:
First of two PBS profiles.
First solo museum show at the Museum of Wisconsin Art.
Our weavings entered the permanent collections of the Smithsonian, National Museum of Mexican Art, Museum of Wisconsin Art, and the Miller Art Museum.
Finalists for American Craft Council’s Rare Craft Fellowship, and met Anthony Bourdain at the Brooklyn award event… sipping Balvenie Scotch from sponsors!
Lectured at the American Craft Council, Minneapolis.
Took top honors at national juried fiber exhibitions.
Three invitational museum exhibitions.
Included in book on Door County artists, and soon-to-be published book on national contemporary fiber artists.
Exhibited in Los Angeles, Santa Fe, Boston, Minneapolis, and Wisconsin.
Awarded a United States Artists Fellowship for Collaborative Craft (sometimes described as a mini-MacArthur fellowship for our life’s work).
All of this was built on our loving base here in Door County! Come celebrate the reach and growth that all of you have fostered. Join in Wence’s momma’s Oaxacan tacos, libations, and plenty of hugs! Thank you, Door County! This community knows how to support its artists, old and new… we are so grateful to be a part of it!
